Siri and Apple Maps Routes

Does Siri ever take you through the weirdest routes to get to places?  Sometimes I think Siri thinks she’s from the hood because of the way she takes me through cities.  I think why couldn’t you just have gone through a more direct route to get me where I’m going.

I was driving through Fort Worth and used Siri to get to the gym.  We went through all these side streets and I’m going through neighborhoods having to slow down because of speed bumps and stopping at a million stop signs.  I don’t know how Siri thought this was going to take a shorter time than just hitting up the main roads!

Another time, I set the destination for Boise ID from a rural town in the PNW.  As we set off for Boise there was an alert about shaving some time off if I take an alternative route.  I pressed OK.  I’m all about getting to my destination faster.   But it started to get a bit sketchy as Siri started taking me down some gravel roads.   At one point Siri tried to take me down a washboarded road for the next 10 miles.  How is me driving 10 miles an hour down this rocky road supposed to decrease my overall route time? Siri be acting country sometimes!  I turned around and rerouted Siri myself.

This had me thinking about how circumstances in life get us to where we are.  Holy Spirit is active and moving in our lives to make us look like Jesus.  It’s funny though some of the ways we get there. Sometimes I ask God, “Did it really take all this for me to get here?” But I know my Father and his character and how he seeks for my good and his glory. So I have to rest in the faithfulness of God to make me into the best version of myself.  Even if the path doesn’t seem like the most direct route, I know that he knows best.

Where is God taking you and do you trust him in that path?

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps Proverbs 16:9

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
